While the DCEU is trying to get their act together their animated movies have always been a hit. They have been dark, violent, gritty film series. Recently they lightened up with an old school Batman & Robin DVD featuring the Adam West. Then I saw a trailer for Batman and Harley.
I got very excited the animation style was a homage to the Batman: Animated series which is also celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary this year. Wasn’t sure if this was gonna be a serious romp or not but I was ready nonetheless. Also, everyone loves Harley we can’t get enough of her. So why not do a feature where she works with the dark knight in her own special way
The movie Villians Poison Ivy & Floronic Man (Walmart brand Swamp Thing) trying to turn the entire world inhabitants into a plant Hybrid. Batman and Nightwing are on the case and realize they will need Harley’s help since they are longtime friends and a formidable team when they worked together.
This feature had its fair share of meta jokes. Nightwing finds Harley working at a restaurant where the female servers are dressed as scantily clad villains and heroes and
of course she dresses as …………………..herself.
There was also a great fight scene between her and Nightwing which she won. What followed was what I can only describe as a 50shades of Harley between her and Nightwing.

Despite some very adult scenes here and there, this was a fun cartoon. It also had a great scene that played back to some Golden and Silver age villains at a bar where Harley graced us with a musical number. There also a message about climate change and taking care of the environment. To be honest I felt like Bernie Sanders was about to show up. Kevin Conroy returned as the voice of the bat and Loren Lester as Nightwing / Robin. We had a different Harley this time Melissa Rauch played her voice. Which fits perfectly since she is Bernadette on THE BIG BANG THEORY here’s a sample https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyAkev_nv0A . It was an awkwardly funny movie. It felt more like one of those serious/funny
episodes from their last season.
episodes from their last season.
Was it odd? Yes. Was it funny? Yes. Will I watch it again? Hell YES!! make sure you go out and grab your copy for your collection. I have to give this movie an A. It gave me something new from the material that I already know about. It was also very funny which was unexpected also the after credit scene I was done. Here a clue: WIPEOUT
