The Saga of Tanya the Evil (Review)

The Saga of Tanya the Evil
A DEFINITE MUST-WATCH!

The saga of Tanya the Evil is a very unique Isekai anime which has gained immense popularity thanks to its amazing story. This anime diverts from the usual Isekai pattern and gives us something brilliant.
The saga of Tanya the Evil is an amazing anime, but the show also has some drawbacks. Today, we will take a closer look at all of the different aspects of this masterwork.
Before anything else, let us take a look at this anime’s plot.
Plot:
As the title of this anime suggests, Saga of Tanya the Evil follows the story of an evil loli called Tanya Degurechaff, who is a young soldier famous for her ruthless behavior on the battlefield. This little girl has even earned herself the nickname of “Devil of the Rhine,” thanks to her sinister personality.

She looks like a harmless little girl, but she is actually the reincarnation of a cunning businessman. Right before his death, this businessman got in a fight with a self-proclaimed God whom he refers to as “Being X.” To get back at him, Being X reincarnated this businessman as a little girl in a very ruthless world filled with war. But to his surprise, this businessman becomes one of the strongest fighters in his new world.

Considering the fact that it is an Isekai anime, the plot of this anime is a definite 10/10. Isekai anime usually suffer from poor writing as they can seem a little too over-the-top, but Saga of Tanya the Evil has a very quirky story which is presented in an even quirkier manner. The plot of this anime alone is enough to catch the attention of anime fans all over the world.

Art and Animation:
The animation is one of the strongest points of this anime. The saga of Tanya the Evil has been animated by Studio Nut, which is a relatively new studio. The transitions between different scenes of this anime are breathtaking, and every scene is a feast for your eyes. The character impressions are also created in a unique and beautiful manner. This anime has definitely managed to create a good reputation for Studio Nut.

Characters and Character Design:
In my personal opinion, the characters’ aspect of this anime is one of its weak points. Don’t get me wrong, the character of Tanya Degurechaff has been handled beautifully. However, the show does not really pay much attention to the side characters. The side characters in this anime are not really rememberable, and their personalities can seem a little vague at times.
The designs of all the characters in this series are brilliant and unique. Each character is given a unique look which fits his/her personality.
Let us take a closer look at the main characters in this anime.

Tanya Degurechaff:
Tanya Degurechaff is the main protagonist of this series and also, an anti-hero. This girl would cross any boundary just to prove being X wrong. In a way, we can even call her the loli version of Hitler, who is out to wreak havoc in the entire world. She only thinks about herself and always gets what she wants.
Tanya’s character design is also quite unique as she is drawn in a very cute and wholesome manner. However, her facial expressions can make even a grown man shiver with fear.

Viktoriya Ivanovna Serebryakova:
Viktoriya Ivanovna Serebryakova is a powerful yet naïve mage, who serves under Tanya Degurechaff. This poor girl accidentally becomes the primary candidate to suffer from Tanya’s outrage. However, this girl also gets closer to finding out what Tanya’s real personality is like.
Viktoriya Ivanovna is a pretty bland yet interesting character design. The girl is taller than Tanya and has a pretty beautiful face. She is a very pure-hearted and good character, who looks out for others.

Being X:
Being X is a pretty unique character in this series who seems like a fake God. This self-proclaimed God is trying to punish a man who didn’t take him seriously, and in my personal opinion, that sounds pretty childish. Being X’s personality is quite unique as he tries to use the world around Tanya to get back at her.
Being X doesn’t really have a physical character design as he is represented as a Godly figure.

Soundtracks:

The soundtracks in this anime are quite decent, but they are not really memorable. The opening and ending songs are very chaotic, and they totally represent the theme of this anime. The OSTs in the anime itself are also very good, and they are implemented in a beautiful manner.

The saga of Tanya the Evil Movie:
There is also a movie sequel of this series which is just as good as the first season. The movie sequel captures the essence of this series and presents it in a breathtaking manner. The persistent battle between Tanya and being X still rages on in this sequel.

Enjoyment:
Is this anime entertaining?
Yes, this anime is extremely entertaining!
This anime adaption is very good, and it totally does justice to the source material. Yutaka Uemura has done a very good job as the director of this marvel. The saga of Tanya the Evil is a chaotic thrill ride that will keep you at the edge of your seat.
Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts:

The saga of Tanya the Evil is a must-watch anime that will keep you entertained. This anime has a lot of masterfully planned twists and turns, which build-up the marvelous story.
I wouldn’t call The Saga of Tanya the Evil a masterpiece, but it is still quite decent. This anime has a lot of potentials to grow into a classic, but the first season alone was not enough to do it. We can only hope that a newer season for this anime releases as soon as possible.
I would personally give this anime an 8 out of a 10 as it is a very good watch. I recommend this anime to anyone who is looking for something interesting and short.
